Tod answers!

Okay, Tod has read all of your questions and answered a few of them. And he’s helped me draw a winner at random. Amy Z says: Hypothetically, if you were in love with someone, but she was already taken (believed she was in love) by someone you were very close to, for example, a good friend or a brother, how long would you wait to tell her how you felt or wait for her to realize she felt the same way about you?
Tod: I have nothing but time. And pizza.

Candice P. says: Tod, Since your reaping abilities allows you to become invisible would you consider yourself a Peeping Tom or have you ever been a Peeping Tom?
Tod: Have I watched people when they didn’t know I was there? Of course. I’m always here, but no one’s supposed to know that, so the role of the unobserved observer is kind of built into a reaper’s existence. It’s a detached sort of reality. Like sitting in the audience at a play for all of eternity. You’re not part of the story, and you can’t affect it—you can only watch. It doesn’t take long to forget you even exist, while there are so many lives playing out all around you. Without you. It really puts things into perspective—how little any one person means in the greater scheme. I mean, if the whole damn planet can keep spinning without you, how much difference did you make in the first place?

 Terrie says: Tod, you spell your name with one ‘d’ you were a bean sidhe in life and you’re a reaper in death. Is there anything about you that is average?
Tod: Not a thing. Interpret that however you like.

camille says: Do you ever feel like punching Nash in the face (again)?
Tod: He’s my brother. Of course I feel like punching him.

Jessica S. says: Tod, do you really think Nash isn’t right for Kaylee? I mean I’m not his #1 fan either, but if she still cares for him how could she let him go? She’d be all alone. Would you be willing to step up to being the boyfriend?
Tod: I’m not sure Nash is right for anyone right now. He has some things he needs to work out on his own before he’s capable of putting his best into anything. Would I be willing to step up? Never let it be said I’m not a team player.

Michele M. says: Can Reapers date?
Tod: In case you haven’t heard, I am fully functional.

April says: Tod, with all the free time you have, do you spend a lot of time thinking about the future? Meaning what will happen as you become less attached to life, what you’ll do after you’re family and friends pass away, etc.
Tod: I spend a lot of time trying not to think about that.

Renee says: Tod, what is it exactly that makes you so awesome? Come on, you know you have something to say, don’t you always?
Tod: I’m afraid that formula’s proprietary. But I can tell you it’s heavily laced with apricot jam.

Meagan S. says: Tod, it’s been said that reapers don’t have the same values as humans/ bean sidhes. From everything that I’ve seen you want to protect your friends and family, you feel love and hate… So, as the only person I “know” who is a reaper, do you think that you have human/ bean sidhe values and emotions?
Tod: First of all, not all humans and bean sidhes have the same values. Second, has my perspective changed? Yes. Do I still feel things the same way I did when I was alive? No. I’m an observer of life and an ender of it, not a participant. Things are duller now. They mean less. It’s like walking around with one numb foot—you can’t really feel the ground beneath you, even though you know you’re standing on it. So anyone who makes the world look sharp and vibrant again tends to catch and hold my attention.

lupita arreola says: tod, if it came down to it who would you save if they were dying kaylee or nash??

Tod: I can’t save either of them. No one’s allowed more than one exchange, and they’re both already living on borrowed time, so that decision is—thankfully—nothing I’ll ever have to deal with.

Nicole S. says: Why do you think Kaylee’s dad dislikes you so much??
Tod: It’s his job to dislike anyone who has the potential—real or imagined—to hurt his daughter, in any way. And he’s really good at his job.

Betsy says: If no one was around and the PERFECT opportunity came about, would you kiss Kaylee, even if meant hurting Nash?
Tod: Why does everyone think I’m out to hurt my brother? What, you punch a guy once, and suddenly you’re jealous of his heartbeat, his girlfriend, and his perfectly mussed hair? My own hair’s pretty awesome, you know.

Katie Williams says: Do you tell Kaylee her and Nash being together isn’t the best thing for her so she can realize you two should be together?
Tod: I told Kaylee the truth. Whatever inevitable conclusions she draws are her business. And inevitable.

Jenelle says: Tod, what is your favorite mythical creature?
Tod: Forgiveness. Oh, wait. I thought you said mythical concept.

Lisa Worthen says: Since you are a Reaper did you ever watch the tv show “Reaper”? If so what did you think of it?
Tod: I’ve never seen it. [Rachel hasn’t either.] But I’m sure they got it all wrong.

Alisa Montez says: Tod, if Kaylee decided she wanted to be with you but Nash wasn’t okay with it, what would you do?
Tod: I can’t help noticing that you didn’t ask what I would want in that situation. But I can assure you that if Kaylee decided she wanted to be with me, Nash would NOT be okay with it. He won’t even let me play his video games. He’s not big on sharing.

Tod: Nash’s heartbeat.

Cora Anthony says: Tod, if your dad was alive, what do you think he’d say about you being a reaper? Or Nash being…. well, Nash.
Tod: I think he’d be surprised by me being a reaper. But Nash growing up to be Nash was kind of a given.

Rachel says: If you could have done one more thing before you died and became a reaper what would it have been?
Tod: Planned my funeral. Seriously, people, have a plan. Otherwise, they’ll bury you looking like a waiter.
