Reminder; Progress (Edited!)

Is it just me, or does time seem to slip by faster and faster the older we get? I’m pretty sure last year lasted longer than this year seems to be, and the one before was even longer than that. Regardless, somehow we’ve come to the last day of May, so I need to remind everyone that today is the LAST day to purchase “Never To Sleep” and know that my royalties from your purchase will go to St. Jude’s Children’s hospital. I will be donating all of the royalties from the first six months’ sales (minus any taxes owed) as soon as I am paid, which won’t be for several more months. The details are here.

Some things to keep in mind about “Never To Sleep”:

  • Pirated copies and illegally bought copies (yes, these exist–some e-pirates actually CHARGE for illegal copies) won’t benefit the charity, because neither my publisher nor I will see any profit from those, thus there will be nothing for me to donate from them.
  • “Never To Sleep” is available only in electronic format at the moment
  • “Never To Sleep” is not yet available outside the US (that I know of). I’m sorry about that. There’s nothing I can do about that. It’s a territorial rights issue, and way beyond anything I can control. The story can’t/won’t be published in any other countries until my publishers in those countries buy/exercise the rights to publish it in their territory. (And I believe the UK will be publishing it very soon.) I can’t speed that process up, but you can, by writing to ask the publisher in your territory to publish it.
EDIT: The English edition IS available in Germany! Thanks to Britta for the heads-up! And the UK edition will be on sale tomorrow!

Next Monday, I leave for Book Expo America. If you’re going to be there and are interested, On June 5, at the Harlequin booth, I’ll be signing copies of the Soul Screamers omnibus Vol 1 at 11 am for the HQTeen hour (with several other HQTeen authors) and Shadow Bound at 1 pm for the paranormal hour (with several other Mira and HQN authors). This’ll be a short trip for me–I’m leaving early for a family obligation–but I hope to see some of you there.

In other news, I’m chugging right along on the WITH ALL MY SOUL manuscript. I’ve made my goal every day this week so far, except for Tuesday, which was disastrous (regarding word count) because it was full of family and social obligations. So I’ll have to make up 3000 words of that day’s goal this weekend. Here’s where it stands now.

62,235 / 100,000
(62.24%)

In looking at that word count meter and thinking back to the first couple of Soul Screamers books, I’m hyper-aware that if this book were as short as those, I’d only have 10,000 words left to write. I’d be finishing this up in the next two days. Alas, that is not the case. Fortunately it’s going quickly, and I’m making notes of emotional high-points and scene details that need to be fleshed out in the rewrites.

Since I now have finished copies of Before I Wake (have I  shown you those here yet?), I should give some away! Check back tomorrow for a teen-only giveaway of THE ENTIRE SERIES so far (Volume 1 – book 5, US edition). If you know a teen who likes the series, or who might like the series, please feel free to spread the word. Later I’ll do a no-restrictions giveaway, but I want to take care of the teens (the target audience) first.

Okay, I’m off to work! Have a great Thursday!

  1. Good luck with the writing goals and that box of BIW is so, so, so, so, so pretty! As always you have amazing giveaways :) and you are the only reason I wish I were a teen right now. :)

I am so looking forward to WAMS already. I love that it’s so much longer than the others, which means it’s going to be the best yet. I just know it!

And I just have to say that you’re the only writer who still can cause me to tear up and get all twisted up on the fourth re-read of a book, even when I know what’s going to happen!

  2. You have got to be kidding me!!! But just a few days earlier you were like 10% done and now you’re almost done T_______T
See?? That’s what I said on my Fiktshun’s SSchallenge blog the other day… *-*
    ~sighs~ BEA… one day I’ll go :D

  3. when you say, never to sleep is not available outside the US…you mean in their native tongue, right? because i don´t live in the US and i have never to sleep on my kindle. and the way you said it sounded like i shoudn´t have it.and now i´m just confused.
still waiting for shadow bound though. should be available in a few weeks. good thing i read in english or else i wouldn´t be able to read your books at all.

    • Um…I don’t know. I was told it wasn’t available yet in other countries. What country are you in? Could you send me a link? If there’s a place for those overseas to buy it, I’d love to share the link!

      • yes i´m from germany and i got it from amazon.
i didn´t even think that it wouldn´t be available here. i looked for it when it came out and bought it. so far i always got the books in english around the date they came out. amazon sometimes just needs a few day or weeks ´till they get it themselves,i guess. that´s why i can´t order shadow bound right now.
maybe you can ask on FB who, from other contries is able to get never to sleep legally. it is kind of funny that you, as the author, aren´t told where people can buy your books :-)

  4. I got mine from amazon Germany without a problem… also with physical copies of other books, I never have to wait for a release in another country (like the UK) and can just order the US version no matter what (I live in Switzerland).

      • same here :-)
with the physical copies it just sometimes takes a few days and if i have really bad luck, weeks to get it. but not month like in other countries.

  5. Hey Rachel! Just wanted to throw it out there that you can get Never To Sleep in Canada. I got mine on iTunes back in January!

  6. Sigh I agree with Rachel from Fiktshun. I’m wishing I was a teen right now. I’m trying to figure out if I know any teens who might like to read this series. It’s weird but I don’t know a lot of people outside of my family who like to read, let alone English books. I can’t wait for the all ages (above 13) giveaway!

  7. I got my copy yesterday and just finished reading it today.
Before I wake is probably my favorite book out of the series, though it was kind of sad.
Cant wait for the next one :D
