How many Soul Screamers books will there be?
I’m under contract for seven Soul Screamers books. My Soul to Take, My Soul to Save, My Soul to Keep, My Soul To Steal, If I Die, and Before I Wake are available now in the US, Canada, the UK, Australia, and France. With All My Soul, the seventh and final novel in the series, comes out April 1, 2013 in the US and Canada.
So far, all or some of the Soul Screamers books are available in the US, Canada, the UK, Australia, France, Germany, Spain, and Brazil. They may be coming in other countries as well, but I don’t have any concrete information about that yet.
What are the Soul Screamers novellas and where can I get them?
There are currently three Soul Screamers novellas, all in e-format. You do not have to have an e-reader to read them–they can be purchased in PDF format, which is readable on any computer and most smart phones. The novellas (longer than a short story, but much shorter than a novel) are “extras” intended to be read along with the series. “My Soul To Lose” takes place before the first novel in the series and can be read at any time. “Reaper” also takes place before the first novel, but is best read after the 3rd book. “Never To Sleep” is set in the middle of If I Die and should not be read until after If I Die.
The novellas can be bought at any online bookstore, in just about any format, but so far “Never To Sleep” is only available in the US/Canada, “Reaper” is only available in the US, Canada, and France, and “My Soul To Lose” is only available in the US, Canada, and the UK. I don’t currently have any other information about foreign releases.
The only novella currently available in print is “My Soul To Lose,” which can be found in the Soul Screamers omnibus, Volume One.
What are the Soul Screamers short stories, and where can I get them?
“Fearless” (a prequel story from Sabine’s POV) is available in the Kiss Me Deadly anthology. “Niederwald” (set between My Soul To Steal and If I Die, also from Sabine’s POV) is in the Enthralled anthology.
Will you write any more Shifters books after Alpha?
Probably not. Faythe has her happy ending, and to continue the series would mean taking that away from her. Don’t you think she’s been through enough?
How many Unbound books will there be?
There will be three Unbound books. Blood Bound and Shadow Bound are out now in the US, Canada, and the UK. Oath Bound comes out in the spring of 2013 in the US and Canada. And that’s really all I know at the moment.
Why are the Unbound books each each told from a different character’s perspective?
Actually, they’re each told from two different characters’ perspectives. Because I’m trying something new (to me). Challenging myself. Letting more than one person show us what s/he sees of the world. I know everyone seems to love Liv and Cam from Blood Bound, but give Kori and Ian a chance in Shadow Bound. They may just win your hearts.
Have you ever thought about making your books into movies?
It doesn’t really work that way. Sorry. I’m an author, so I write books. Directors and producers make movies, and that’s a VERY big and expensive undertaking. It takes millions and millions of dollars to make a movie. Seriously. In order for a book to be made into a movie, the film rights must be sold to a production company, and that hasn’t happened yet with any of my books. We’ve had interest, but that’s as far as it’s gone so far. Truthfully, very, very few books will ever be optioned for film, and of those optioned, very, very few will actually make it to the screen. You hear about the exceptions because they’re the exceptions.
I’m an aspiring author. Will you read my work and give me an opinion or advice?
I’m sorry, but for legal reasons, I can’t read unpublished fiction. But the good news is that you don’t need me to read your stuff. What you need is a critique group or critique partner. I’ve been working with mine for years and she’s invaluable. There are plenty of places both in person and online to find a critique partner (including your local RWA chapter, even if you don’t write romance). The thing to remember is that you want someone who is at or slightly above your current skill and experience level.
Why can’t I get your books in my country?
If you can’t get my books in your country, chances are that rights to that territory haven’t yet sold. There’s nothing I can do about that, unfortunately. At least some of my books are or will soon be available in the UK, Australia, New Zealand, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Brazil, India, Turkey, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Vietnam, Hungary, and Thailand.

Hi,
first of all forgive me if my writhing is not so good, I’m from Romania, and i hope i will know what to say to make myself understood
i don’t know if u will like much of what i will say, but here it goes….. I suffered when i read the Shifter series and i believe that one reads this kind of books to feel special, too evade the ugliness of the world, too feel that the wrong and the unfair is punished and that is still hope…..so i believe that will be nice too have another story that shows us a nice ending so we can feed from their happiness maybe Faythe and Marc will have children, and maybe we can see what happens with Ethan’s baby.
I read this kind of books because I get for as long as I am captive in them to live in a fantastic world, a better world, therefore i will like after the bitter parts to rejoice in the happiness of a long description of a happy ending. The classics are food for the brain, but this kind of books are food for the soul that fuel emotions. To make a long story short i will absolutely love to feel a longer time happy then sad when i read or to feel the satisfaction of a rightful ending prolong after i build up nerves and fury and sadness along with the character.
Thank u for the understanding, and i hope that u will not be upset because i spoke my mind.(by the way i cried and suffered when they did, and i was happy when they were, u were capable to make me feel a storm of emotions along the road with your book, thank u for that too)
Faythe and her allies have beaten the bad guys, she’s chosen her love, and is in position as Alpha to institute change from the inside. I’m not sure how much happier an ending could get, without getting sappy. And if I were to write another book about Faythe, I’d have to mess up her happy ending just to have conflict in the story. You wouldn’t want that, would you?
It will be nice to enjoy Faythe and Marc together, maybe a child of their own, to see how things were settled for Jace and Kaci, maybe they will fall in love…………..and they can still fight, not necessary loose something.
Thank u.
OK! I must have read a different ending because someone lent me a copy of her ebook version of alpha and I felt as though it ended in sad note…so I gonna have to buy the book again and reread it!thanks for answering my question even though its sad to know that the shifter series is over. Btw it seems like all the series you have are ending soon does that mean you will have something else in the works?
thanks, Halima
Halima, how did you borrow a copy of an ebook? There are a few legal ways to do that, but I’ve never heard from anyone who’s actually done it, and I’m curious.
Regardless, there’s only one ending to Alpha, and no doubt that’s the one you read, wherein Faythe and her allies have beaten the bad guys, she’s chosen her love, and is in position as Alpha to institute change from the inside. I’m not sure how much happier an ending could get, without getting sappy. And if I were to write another book about Faythe, I’d have to mess up her happy ending just to have conflict in the story. You wouldn’t want that, would you?
Will the soul screamers end after before I wake? And u r like my favorite author right now! And I tell everyone to read your books and the all love them!
O and one last thing is I LOVE the covers for all your books expescially “before I wake”!
Thank you! And I assume you found the answer to your questions in the post above…?
Do u enjoy being an author?
Of course! Why else would I do it?
Can someone please confirm Alec’s nationality for me please, i’m trying to picture him in my head and his descriptions dont give anything solid for me to decide how he’d look.
His nationality? Or his ethnicity? He’s half African American and half…Netherworld.
Where can I buy the books Fearless and Niederwald? I searched online line but all I get is links that don’t get me anywhere and some promotion for a concert lol. It would be a big help if someone could tell me where to purchase them. Thx
Those aren’t books. They’re short stories contained in the *Kiss Me Deadly*and *Enthralled* anthologies, respectively.
Oh okay. Thank you
I know (from reading any posts you’ve written on the subject) that you don’t plan on writing anymore about Faythe. She has her happy, well sort of happy ending. But would you consider writing more about her world.
Like seeing how the other Prides have coped/ are coping etc. Maybe writing something from Kaci’s point of view or along those lines.
Faythe deserves her happy ending, doesn’t mean there can’t be more stories to write about some of the others…
<3.::Hello, Im 16 years old & I just wanted to say i really enjoyed both of your shift and soul screamers series. You're one of favorite writers and i hope one day i can be as good as an author like you ='P
And I also wanted to say i made a short lil freewrite decicated to you shift series, maybe you want to read it?::.<3

Why did Kaylee dump Nash for Tod in the series when she loved him (Nash) in all the previous books? The first 4 books was about Kaylee and Nash, and then in the 5th book she decides she actually loves Tod? Why did her feelings change for Nash, when he clearly loves her?
Just curious!
Thank you, and your are a wonderful writer!
Lizelle
if you re_read all the book she alway like tod and stard to love him in the 4or 5 book . also she staed to see that nash was not the same boy she fall in love with (yes 1/2 of that was because of the frozt) but he was not right for her any more tod was
hope this helps and if i”am so off some one pleace tell me
I was wondering would you ever write a book about Karen and Greg Saunders? Maybe a short story about how they fell in love. I have read all youre Shifters books, and I know the back story is in their. I would love to read the full story, and to meet Faythe s grandparents!
I was wondering how many Omnibus volumes there will be for your Soul Screamers series. Also, when will the second Omnibus volume come out?
P.S.
I love this series so much, you did an amazing job on writing it
Thank You,
Catherine Gore
Sorry to say I am not impressed. Only a fifth of the way through “Stray,” and even as a popcorn fluff book I can’t enjoy it. How can you have a shifter species based on cats and cat behavior and then expect us to believe the females are submissive to all the males? Toms make a lot of noise and fight, and then, IF the queen feels like it, she mates with the ‘winner’. A lot of times the ‘winning’ tom runs home with his ears in shreds.
And female cats are called queens, not tabbies. Tabby is short for tabberus, a breed of short-haired cat. Both male and females tabbies are called tabbies. I grew up with two of the largest on record, one of whom’s twin was owned by our vet.
It’s impossible to enjoy a story which otherwise might have been good when the basic conflict of the protagonist is founded on reversal of reality. Don’t you own two cats? Did you bother learning anything about feline behavior before you wrote these books? If you were so set on Faythe’s struggle being against a male-dominating family and society, why didn’t you use a breed where that happens? Like wolves, gorillas, heck, deer?
I’m sorry you don’t like it. You are, of course, free to stop reading at any time. However, I don’t owe you or anyone else an explanation for how or why I wrote the book. Nor would I follow you to your own blog, even if you’d made that possible with a link, and berate you there for being rude to me here on mine.
I have to say that KG is very rude, the point of being an author is having the imagination to write anything you like. Personally i am a big fan of all of your books and cant wait to read before i wake
.
Hello Rachel Vincent, I did write on here before but my computer is silly so i didn’t know whether you got it or not, so here it is again,
I just wanted to thank you for writing some amazing books, i got your entire shifter series for my birthday last year, at the same time my grandad was diagnosed with cancer and your books helped me through that time, because they left a place where i could go to that was new and it let me escape the dreadful time for just a short period of time, i have also had loads of exams over the past year and they have helped keep my stress levels down, they also helped me pass my English exam after all before i started reading again i was rubbish at my English but as i went through your books i picked up on words that i otherwise would not have known, and i ended up passing my English with a B because of my my newly found complex vocabulary so thank you so much.
Also you get a lot of criticisms for the ending of the Shifter series, however i believe it was pure genius after all we wouldn’t want any other traumatic experiences for Faythe, she’s been kidnapped, beaten, heartbroken and its time she got something in return, now she has the man, the pride and hopefully her happy ending. The way you left it made it possible to make up your own ending as it was left open to interpretation, the books kept you on the edge of your seats. I often hate books that are full of foreshadowing but yours where not which was brilliant. I have to say i honestly thought Faythe was going to end up with Jace :S silly me
.
I even got myself a job in a library so i could keep a look out for more of your books
I don’t know whether you will actually get to read this but i really hope you do, your writing is amazing. I’m moving on to the soul screamers series now
Your sincerely,
Amijane
*PS your books taught me to stick up for what i believe even if i stand alone, i did this and because did i founded the first ever junior committee for cancer research in England, you kept me strong and for that i am truly grateful.
Wow, thank you! I’m so glad to hear that. I’m wishing you and your grandfather all the best.
He’s doing much better
thank you
hey just wan’t to know if befor i wake will be coming out in audio book like all of your other books i love all of your other book i would hope that this one will be coming out in audio its the only way i can read book and i know it just the frst day before i wake is out but on itunes the audio book is not there ???//
Do you plan on writing a book (or ebook) in Tod’s perspective similar to the “A Day in the Afterlife of Tod”? An interpretation of events from his perspective when it comes to his falling for Kaylee and how they end up getting together in If I Die?
No, I don’t. Sorry. But “Reaper” is told from Tod’s POV.
Hi, I found Before I Wake in the Kobo store (kobobooks.com) a few days ago, but when I went to purchase it today, it’s no longer available. Is it going to be back in the Kobo Store sometime soon?
I’m sorry, but I have no idea. You can ask Harlequin Teen on their Facebook page, though!
Hello,
I’ve read the above post and it mentions that you’re under contract for 7 soul screamers books… well contracts can be extended right? Especially for series? So I had hope that soul screamers might be extended again! But on your home page it says that you’re writing book 7 to be the FINAL (no no no no nooooo) book! Is this true? Is there any possibility of more books? Why are you stopping with 7? It’d be so great if you could answer this, thanks for taking the time to read my questions
New books can be proposed, and new contracts can be offered, true. But I actually just turned in the 7th/final book, which means I just gave the series what I hope is a nice ending. After seven books, any series will almost certainly have found its core readership, and Soul Screamers has had a *great* run. I’m pleased with it, but I’d like the chance to write something new, which will hopefully pull in a bigger readership, leading people to my previous work, like Soul Screamers. Does that make sense?
Hi Rachel,
I love to write and your writing in Shifters was so good! I’m reading them over and over and over again! Soul Screamers and Blood Bound were also so great! You are the best author I know of!
So, my question is… Is it possible for me to be able to meet you or something some day? It would be an honor to just sit down and talk to you for a little bit… Maybe you could even help me with some of my writing, like tips and everything! So. Is that a possibility? I live in Arlington, Texas.
Thank you for writing so well and giving me a perfect month- spent reading your books! Please reply!
Oh and just so you know, I can’t wait until Before I Wake and Shadow Bound come out! I am so excited!
Also, just a little bit about myself, I am 12 and like I said before, live in Arlington. I love writing and reading! Please comment back and I really hope I can someday meet you!
They’re already out.
I don’t do a lot of signings, but I live in TX, so there’s always a chance I’ll get to the Arlington area at some point. And thanks so much for your enthusiasm!
They are? I need to go to the bookstore ASAP! And I really hope that you can make it to Arlington sometime in the near future! I would really love to meet you!
How will I know if you do decide to do a signing here?
Hi Rachel, my name is Ally (obviously) and I am a big fan of yours. I would really love to meet you someday, and I saw you and someone else talking about a signing in Arlington? Anonymous?
Anyways, I live in Arlington, too, so just thought I’d tell you that I really hope you can make it to Arlington sometime soon.
Also, like Anonymous said, how will I know if you do decide to do a signing here?
I know you can’t answer to everyone’s comments, but I would really be honored if you’d please comment back!
I can’t read reaper!!!!! I’m so sad because although I understand it in German I really can’t read it properly and it seems that german is the only legal way to get it in the UK. Please get it here soon! Xx
Too bad you aren’t making another Shifters book. I loved the series, some of my favorite books on up there with 13 Reasons Why and The Heroes of Olympus series. Amazing, so I have to say I am a bit sad that there won;t be another book. I know it’s been stated a million times and all but I just had to add my own input
I kind of hate cliff hangers though, but I like that you ended the series with happiness. Here’s to hoping you’ll change your mind on a later date about another book.
is it possible that there will ever be a hard copy complete compilation of the short stories and novella’s from soul screamers in one book… it would be really cool to have… i know it would have to be in the distant future but maybe please with cherries and sprinkles and other fun on top… it would complete my shelf… i have kiss me deadly and i do have the ebooks but it’s not as nice as having matching real books with nice covers. Oh and just finished before i wake today… it was awesome
